Merit-Based Scholarships
When you apply for admission, you are automatically considered for several prestigious scholarships, which are awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, strong curiosity and leadership skills, and (in some cases) financial need.
We offer a variety of independent merit-based scholarships, including the Pogue, the Morehead-Cain, and the Robertson Scholars Program. Learn more about merit-based scholarships at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Pogue Scholarship: If you apply to Carolina by October 15, you will automatically be considered for the Pogue Scholarship. Finalists will be notified in mid-February and invited to an interview weekend.
Morehead-Cain Scholars Program: The Morehead-Cain has a separate application. If you are a North Carolina resident attending a North Carolina high school, you may be nominated by your high school or self-nominate by October 3. If you are a resident of another state, you may be nominated by an official Morehead-Cain nominating school or affiliate program or, if you apply by October 15, you may be considered for the scholarship based on your admission material.
Robertson Scholars Program: If you apply to Carolina, you will automatically be considered for the Robertson Scholars Program. We strongly encourage all interested applicants to submit a supplemental form directly to the Robertson Scholars Program by December 1 and to apply to us by mid-December.
In addition to these scholarships, when you apply for admission you'll also be considered for a variety of special opportunities available only to first-year students.
If you are admitted and you enroll, you may also be eligible to apply for your choice of scholarship opportunities for Carolina students.
