The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
The diversity of students on campus

Live and Study with the Nation's Best Students

If you come to Carolina, you’ll be supported and challenged by students who are among the very best in the world. Our students are also incredibly diverse—racially, socioeconomically, and geographically. If you're interested in stepping outside your comfort zone and getting to know other students with different talents, passions, and backgrounds, you'll love Carolina. We think that that our students will push you to reach the goals you’ve set for yourself—and perhaps achieve things you haven’t even imagined.

“The support and collaboration on this campus has empowered me to experiment with a full range of interests and whims. I’ve applied my Spanish major through service learning, I’ve audited a semester of Hindi in preparation for a research trip to India, and helped express campus voices while working with the Daily Tar Heel.”
Aisha Saad/Environmental Health Studies/2008 Rhodes Scholar

Aisha graduated from J.H. Rose High School in Greenville, N.C. in 2005. A Morehead-Cain Scholar, she  majored in environmental health sciences,  established and coordinated a weekly Arabic Conversation Group on campus, and  interned with government ministries in Peru and in the blood diseases ward of Cairo University’s Teaching Hospitals. Her article on the latter experience was published in the September 2007 issue of the policy journal Health Affairs. As one of Carolina’s 43 Rhodes Scholars, she will travel to England where she will earn a graduate degree at Oxford University.
