President Spellings Meets with Carolina College Advising Corps

Carolina College Advising Corps Adviser Veronica Trujillo-Cuadrado was recently honored to welcome UNC President Margaret Spellings to Graham High School, where President Spellings had a chance to hear from students on ways to improve college access. We were very appreciative of her interest in the Corps. To learn more, please see a recent article in the Burlington Times-News.

As a follow-up to this event, we’d like to update you on the progress of the Corps in the area. So far this year, CCAC advisers have met with 85% of the senior class of the three area schools (Graham, Williams, and Cummings) in one-on-one interactions.  In collaboration with teachers and counselors, almost 75% of seniors have submitted an application to a 4- or 2- year institution.  In other great news, the advisers have greatly increased FAFSA submissions.  As of Feb 24, students have already surpassed the number of FAFSAs that were submitted last year.

Stay posted to this blog for more news on the exciting work of the Carolina College Advising Corps.
