Detailed Instructions for Transfer Applications to Professional Schools

All transfer applicants except those applying directly to the School of Nursing as juniors may apply online through the Common Application. If you are applying as a junior to one of our professional programs, please see the chart below for more information.

Sophomore transfers are enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences and are not admitted to specific major programs. For these applicants, intended major plays no role in our admission decision.

Business Administration Students must spend at least one semester (fall) in the College of Arts and Sciences before they are eligible to start at the business school (students apply early in their first semester at UNC).

Environmental Health Science  (School of Public Health) Students must enroll in the College of Arts and Sciences and complete at least one semester before applying for admission.

Nutrition (School of Public Health) Students must enroll in the College of Arts and Sciences and complete at least one semester before applying for admission.

Deadline and Decision Notification

For the majority of our programs, we only enroll transfer students in the fall term. (Certain nursing programs admit students for the spring or summer term.) For students applying for Fall 2017, the application deadline is February 15, 2017 with decision notification by the end of April. Decisions will be posted on online through your Connect Carolina Student Center.

Second-Degree Applicants

If you already hold a college or university degree at the bachelor’s level or higher, we regret that we cannot consider you for admission to any undergraduate degree program except for programs in Nursing, Radiologic Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Dental Hygiene, and Public Health (Biostatistics and Health Policy and Management).

Your ConnectCarolina Account

Within two days after submitting your application, we will email you instructions for setting up your UNC Guest ID so that you can log into your ConnectCarolina Student Center. Please follow the instructions included in this email to access ConnectCarolina. You’ll be able to check the status of submitted application materials, review your Admissions To-Do List, and view your admissions decision when it’s ready.
