I am from the small town of Nashville, N.C. and went to a small, private high school in Rocky Mount. In high school, I played basketball and soccer and was president of my class for two years. I also tutored a middle school student for three years. As time passed, I watched him develop and improve academically and I became inspired by his perseverance and his positive attitude. I realized then that I wanted to make a difference in not just one child’s life, but in the lives of many students.
My time at Carolina has been all that I had hoped for it to be and more. I am a middle grades education major, a Teaching Fellows scholar and an entrepreneurship minor. Additionally, I am president of the Collegiate Middle Level Association, an organization for future middle school teachers. As president of CMLA, I have had the opportunity to be involved in the School of Education on many different levels, including fundraisers, recruitment opportunities and other SOE-related events.
I always knew I wanted to attend UNC-Chapel Hill. There was just no other place I wanted to go to college. From dorm life to new and old friends, student groups to exciting sporting events, I will always hold Carolina close to my heart.
