Senior Year – Oh the memories. It’s funny to think that four all-too-short years ago, I was standing right where you are now. Staring at a bright new world; leaving my hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moving a thousand miles away.

So, here I am – senior year of college – about to embark on yet another whirlwind adventure. Here is a recap: Born and raised in Louisiana, I have plenty of southern pride (not one of those northern out-of-staters, not that there is anything wrong with Yankees). But coming to Carolina was still a new world, or maybe Louisiana is just its own little world…but the two things that I learned growing up that have stuck with me are this: Laissez les bon temps roulez (Let the good times roll) and Lagniappe(a little something extra).

So about me – This is my last semester at Carolina (tear) and I’m taking 13 hours. I have a minor in Chemistry (the result of my initial intentions of med school and a science major) and will have a degree in Journalism – Visual Communications (concentration in Multimedia Web Design) in May.

In this four-year adventure, I have lost track of the number of times my major has changed. I actually went so far as to move home and go to Louisiana State University to check out the field of Architecture. (I conveniently planned this so I would be there to see the Tigers win the National Football Championship.) But I couldn’t stay away from Chapel Hill, so I came back last Spring to finish up. Now, I have to admit, I was not Tar Heel born or bred…in fact, I bleed purple and gold…but I will be a Tar Heel for the rest of my life.

Speaking of the rest of my life…it is swiftly approaching…and I have no idea what I am doing yet. I have applied to grad schools for Architecture, but am also considering a job in multimedia design for a year or two. Right now I have an internship doing some multimedia, and I am planning on going with my professor and a group of photojournalists and designers to Spain to do a documentary website this summer…

Fun Stuff to do at Carolina:

Intramurals – I have played almost every sport imaginable with my friends from freshman year and the dorms and have the champions T-shirt to prove it!!!

Club Volleyball

Zeta Tau Alpha – and sororities are not as bad as the stereotypes, but not for everyone either…I mean, I was a lonely freshman who didn’t know a soul before I came…

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

University Presbyterian Church Tutoring

CA 60 – OK, not really a club or anything, but it’s the design lab in the basement of Carroll where I do all my classwork and some of my internship work because they have fantastic macs…and all of us design kids live there.
