Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, I had no idea about the University of North
Carolina. I had no idea what a Tar Heel was, no clue where the town of Chapel
Hill was, and never thought that light blue was actually “Carolina blue”.
However, upon moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, I became immersed in Carolina
culture. The more I learned about the school, the more I realized that Carolina
was the place for me. Making UNC my home for four years has been the best decision
that I have ever made.
In high school, one of my favorite extracurricular activities was debate.
This, coupled with my love for talking, has led me to become a communications
major. I am also minoring in Social and Economic Justice.
After I graduate
in 2007, I plan to go to law school and later become a divorce attorney.
Carolina is a wonderful place to help you realize your career ambitions because
of the vast opportunities available.
Aside from academics, I am also involved in a several other activities. I
volunteer for the admissions office and I am also apart of the Minority Student
Recruitment Committee. I’m involved with the Black
Student Movement and
I also serve as a Big Buddy with Campus
Y. In addition, I am currently rushing
Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity.
When I’m not in class, studying,
or engaging in my activities, I like to spend time with my friends. Whether
it’s cheering on our Tar Heels, in the Dean Dome or in Kenan Stadium,
or eating Mexican food on Franklin St., we know how to enjoy ourselves on “The
Hill”. I have learned that Carolina is a wonderful place to make lasting
friendships.
