A Brand is Born

Caitlyn Kumi's entrepreneurial spirit and time at Carolina helped her turn a personal item into a professional passion.

When Caitlyn’s aunt gifted her West African waist beads, she found the confidence she needed to move past a difficult relationship and the inspiration to start an apparel business to empower women.

Caitlyn works with women artisans to source her products and hosts fundraisers that support women’s causes. Through her coursework at Carolina’s Hussman School of Journalism and Media, she’s found ways to connect with her customers and grow her brand.

After graduation, Caitlyn is taking a consulting job at Ernst and Young while continuing to champion women through her company.
