The UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health is the top public school of public health. The school’s mission is to improve public health, promote individual well-being, and eliminate health inequities across North Carolina and around the world.

program includes:

  • Assured enrollment into the highly selective BSPH Biostatistics program (student will maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA and complete all pre-requisites with a C or better)
  • Participation in social, service, and professional development events specifically designed for students in the Gillings School’s Assured Enrollment Program
  • Priority enrollment in SPHG 101 (Introduction to Public Health) and BIOS 500H (Introduction to Applied Biostatistics)
  • Peer advising from a current Biostatistics major

First-year students who take advantage of this program are under no obligation to pursue a degree in Biostatistics if their interests lead them elsewhere. All of the knowledge gained through this program is transferable to other areas.

A BSPH in Biostatistics provides an excellent foundation for employment or continued study, including admission into medical school or prestigious programs in biostatistics. Approximately 45% of recent graduates have continued to graduate programs in biostatistics or closely related fields; 15% have gone directly to medical school; and 40% have landed jobs.
