Stay Up-To-Date On Financial Aid

  • Apply for financial aid if you haven’t already. Be sure to pay attention to deadlines.
  • Set up your official UNC username and email so that you’ll be able to view your financial aid offer and stay in touch with us to receive important updates.
  • Once you receive email notification of your financial aid offer, log into ConnectCarolina. Click the Student Center tile and navigate to “View Financial Aid Award.”

Share Important Details

  • We need your accurate Social Security Number (SSN). If you didn’t provide it on your application, please share it with us in your ConnectCarolina Student Center.
  • Sometimes we need more information to complete your financial aid offer. If we do, we’ll note this in your ConnectCarolina To-Do List, so check there regularly.

Enroll

  • Due to delays with the FAFSA, we’ve extended our enrollment deadline to May 15. Enroll by then in MyCarolina — you’ll officially be a Tar Heel once you accept your offer of admission and pay your $250 non-refundable deposit.
  • If you’re an international student, we strongly encourage you to enroll by May 1. Look out for information from International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and be sure to log into the ISSS portal to upload any required documents.

After You Enroll

I was in a Jersey Mikes when I read my acceptance letter, and I got so excited that I started to cry over my BLT.
      • Complete Required NCAA Form (Student-Athletes Only). To participate in NCAA athletics at Carolina, this step is required. You can access these forms in your enrollment checklist in MyCarolina.
      • Set up your PIN. To help protect your privacy, you’ll set up a unique number that helps you connect with offices across campus.
      • Honor code. If you’ve had any school-based disciplinary incidents or criminal charges, excluding any that have been expunged, since applying for admission, email us at unchelp@admissions.unc.edu.
      • Academic Preparation
        • Test scores. If you’d like college credit by exam, send us your official scores via the respective testing service ASAP. See if your scores qualify for credit.
        • Math placement. Students who do not have traditional means of placement such as ACT, AP, or transfer credit from another college or University are advised to take the optional math placement test to gain placement into math courses at Carolina.
        • Language placement. Carolina students take courses through at least level 3 in one or more of the 28 languages taught at Chapel Hill. Explore how studying language propels students into future studies and careers, and how to place into the appropriate level of the language(s) you’re interested in taking.
        • Review your credit. Once you receive your credit evaluation from our office, use the Tar Heel Tracker ‘What If’ Tool to see how your credits fulfill requirements for Carolina’s IDEAs in Action curriculum.
      • Learn more about Orientation and sign up when registration opens in mid-spring. Orientation is required for all new students. Soon, you will receive an email with details on how to register and when.
      • Order your laptop. You’ll be required to have a laptop and can order one through the Carolina Computing Initiative.
      • Find more information about the pre-registration process and fill out the pre-registration survey when the time comes. In mid-April, we’ll send you an email with the survey link.
      • Apply for housing. All first-year students will live on campus. If you have a disability or medical condition, you may request an accommodation through the Office of Accessibility Resources and Service.
      • Submit your immunization and health history forms to UNC Campus Health.
      • Review the Cashier’s website for important information on billing, creating proxy access to your account for parents or family members, and setting up payment plans. Please note that your bill for the fall semester will be available in ConnectCarolina in mid-July with payment due in mid-August.
      • Provide official copies of your final high school transcript and transcripts for any college coursework. View instructions in MyCarolina.
      • If you have completed any college coursework at universities outside of the United States, provide a World Education Services (WES) course-by-course transcript evaluation of this work.
