Your message from CGL South Korea
We're grateful for your interest in Carolina Global Launch, and we hope you decide to participate. These Tar Heels wanted to pass along some tips about the program.

one piece of advice you should know
- “Don’t be scared to do anything and make the most out of everyday, especially the planned trips that API has because you never know when you’ll be back in that country again.”
Atlas Hines, CGL South Korea ’24 - “Go out of your way to meet and interact with new people! It’s amazing how many cool connections you can make with not just locals, but students from all over the world. It’ll make your experience so much more special.”
Shriya Parthasarathi, CGL South Korea ’24

one thing you should try
- “Korean Barbecue! The entire meal is a unique experience: the food, the grilling, and the time spent with friends. Dipping the food in sauces, wrapping it in lettuce, and eating the side dishes is a social, fun, and surprisingly cheap way to enjoy a meal.”
Gabi Crumpton, CGL South Korea ’24 - “Go to a trendy spot. Myeong-dong, Seongsu-dong, Hongdae are all super fun!”
Christopher Park, CGL South Korea ’24

one thing you will learn
- “The opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture truly opened my eyes as to how much there is to explore in the world. I discovered a new side of myself that was more adventurous, confident, and independent than I could have imagined.”
Shriya Parthasarathi, CGL South Korea ’24 - “Everyone is truly different and it’s our experiences that set each and every one of us apart, so going to CGL helped me value the friendships I made there even more.”
Sophia Sung, CGL South Korea ’24

Christopher Park, CGL South Korea ’24 - “It’s a great way to grow your independence because you’re so far from home but also giving you a close group of friend in your cohort.”
Atlas Hines, CGL South Korea ’24 - “It gives you a whole different perspective and teaches you to step outside of your bubble into trying new things and meeting a variety of new people.”
Sophia Sung, CGL South Korea ’24 - “Participating in CGL is a great opportunity to see another part of the world. In addition to traveling, you also get the opportunity to simultaneously study at a renowned university, which is helpful for completing college credits.”
